Yesterday, at the event “Sustainable Nuclear Energy: Italy Starts Again,” Matteo Salvini stated: “Every week of delay on nuclear energy is a theft of the future from our children.” But what do Italians think about this issue?
According to our survey conducted last October, only around two out of five Italians would like Italy to have a future as a producer of nuclear energy, particularly among men and business owners. On the other hand, approximately 25% of respondents are unsure about their position on the issue (especially those aged 65–74), while nearly 20% would prefer nuclear energy not be used in Italy at all.
There is no doubt that this is a key discussions topic both around European Union and Italian energy policies, yet it remains a deeply divisive one.
