Nearly one in three Italians tries to follow a vegetarian or vegan diet, but the share of those who do so consistently drops to 14%.
Women are more likely than men to follow an “animal-free” diet, whether a vegetarian diet, which excludes the consumption of animal products, or a vegan diet, which also excludes animal-derived products. The proportion is 4 percentage points higher among women than among men.
